Houstonian’s have seen the East End change dramatically over the last 20 years with the construction of Toyota Centre, Minute Maid Park and BBVA stadium. But this side of the city has more to offer then stadiums and a slick tittle “Eado”. In 1840 Houston was split into four wards, with today’s East End stretching over the Second and Third Ward. The Second Ward was home to lawyers and merchants, the third ward businesspeople, craftsmen and professionals. If you look closely you can still see the remnants of these times. Today, bars, cafes, restaurant’s and mural’s are popping up in the area, as artists, craftsmen and young professionals move to the East End.

He brings a new perspective to the roots and cultures of a vibrant neighbourhood, home to a variety cultures and therefore a variety of delicious food. The tour captured some small local restaurants that are pillars in their community, thought provoking street art, and a downtown park buzzing with activity and beauty that evolved from lifeless concrete parking lots. Have lived here for a few years now and still learned so much about the city.  Our guide was awesome and very knowledgeable about the area.  Picked up a lot of great Houston trivia. We were a large group, but either way our tour guide gave us a great experience. Rory has a fun personality and knows his Houston history even though he is from Australia! The routes chosen are super beautiful and you get to see the beautiful architecture of Houston. I love the tour guide’s personality, it added so much to the tour and made it more fun. The ultimate guide to Houston you get access to at the end is also super helpful even for a Houston native! I would HIGHLY recommend this tour, it’s super fun for a  group activity or a date night.
